What Does a Flower Farm Do During the Winter?

One of the questions we receive most during this time of year is “What does a flower farm do during the winter?” or something like “I’m sure you all aren’t as busy without the flowers popping up!” We are always so incredibly appreciative of the interest around our flower farm. Sharing our biggest passion with all of you excites us every day. Having a community that not only cares about investing in sustainable flowers but takes interest in what goes on behind the scenes to…

Our Farm Turns 6!

Happy 6th birthday to Joli Jardin Farm!!! No matter the season, its beauty brings us incomparable joy. Creating a farm that is biodiverse and planting flowers sustainably isn’t always easy by any means but is most certainly always worth it when the process proves itself beautiful over and over again. For all of you, our sincerest gratitude every day but especially today… Thank you for caring about our farm and supporting ethically grown flowers. We’d love to take you along our reflection over the past…

Summer Work on the Farm

Summer time on the farm is a mixed bag. On one hand, it’s magical. Baby animals are growing, flowers are putting on a beautiful show, and everything looks lush and green. On the other hand, work days begin at 6 or 7AM because the heat by 11AM is almost unbearable. Since mid-June, we have been hit with heat advisory after heat advisory. It makes work tough! We want to invite you into the not so pretty behind the scenes moments on the farm because it…

Summer Blooms on the Farm

Summer is such an incomparable time on the farm. Morning harvests are rich, colors appear in vibrant hues, and summer rain showers pop in and out as a treat for our flowers. Our shop is overflowing with buckets showing what a little bit of summer and a whole lot of hard work brings. While our customers and shop visitors see the harvest, it isn’t always magical behind the scenes. With longer summer days comes more challenging work. Sometimes we are unable to expend our energy…

Bye Bye Bye 2020

Goodbye 2020, Hello 2021! Last year was tough and I am pretty happy it’s a brand new year. I wanted to go back and try to pick our some of my favorite moments from 2020. 1. We built a no-contact farm stand in a weekend (just Andrew and myself) when the pandemic first hit and quarantine was in effect. And it worked! We are in awe of the amount of support we received from our community. On many of the days it would completely sell…

Fall to Winter on the Farm

The passage of time this year has seemed truly impossible to track, and I know we’re not alone in that.  March seemed to drag on forever, and then once April danced by suddenly it was Halloween and then Thanksgiving, and it felt like our floral season had less of a bittersweet wind-down and more of an abrupt stop.  We took a short break for the beginning of November to let our brains and bodies hard reset in the Mexico heat to prepare for our fall…

COVID-19 and Our Farm

It has been a wild ride trying to navigate the world amidst a global pandemic. We would usually be popping up all around Chattanooga in our flower truck, the Blumenwagen. Instead all pop-ups are cancelled until further notice. We are trying to do our part with social distancing but also as a small farm, we are trying to survive. Thankfully to some creative brainstorming and from suggestions from our Chattanooga community, we have come up with a couple of different ways to responsibly keep supplying…

“Blumen Hemp” our new CBD Products right here in Chattanooga

We are proud to now offer our hemp to our customers! Grown right here on our farm, processed, and then packaged, we are one of the few farms that can offer high quality CBD products that are this fresh and really entail what it means to be “local”. Just like with our flowers, we grow our hemp organically. This year, for the 2019-2020 season, we grew the strains Cherry Wine and BaOx. To ensure quality, we tested our product several times through our local hemp…

Jette, Vesper, & Rowan

August. This summer has been crazy. This year was the first year selling flowers to the general public here in Chattanooga. Previously, we have just sold to florists for the last two years. This is also the first year the Blumenwagen has been on the road. The summer has absolutely flown by. It’s been hard learning to balance the work – being a mom – and life. So much love going out to all the working moms and dads! I suffer from mom-guilt or farm-guilt…
